American Government · System of Government

The answer depends on where you live: name the U.S. representative for your congressional district. Look it up with your ZIP code at house.gov and memorize it. Some applicants (for example in Washington, D.C. or U.S. territories) name their delegate or resident commissioner, or say they have no voting representative.

At the interview for the 2025 civics test, the officer asks you up to 20 of the 128 questions out loud, and you need 12 correct answers to pass. You answer in your own words; any of the accepted answers counts.
