Privacy policy
This policy explains what the BillYourShop Android app (in.billyourshop.app) and the website billyourshop.in (together, "BillYourShop") collect, why, who processes it, and the choices you have. BillYourShop is published by RK Technology, a proprietorship of Rahul Gupta based in Pune, Maharashtra, India ("we", "us"). It is written for the shop owner and the staff who sign in; a shop's customers never use the app and never have an account.
Summary
- We hold your shop's books for you: your account, your items and stock, your customers and suppliers, and the bills and payments you record.
- No advertising, no advertising ID, and no analytics or tracking in the app.
- We do not sell your data or share it, except with the providers that run the service for us.
- You can export everything at any time, and ask us to delete your account.
What we collect
- Your account. When you sign up: your shop's name, your name, email address, mobile number and state, and a password. The password is stored only as a one-way hash. Staff logins added by the owner have a name, an email address and a password.
- Your shop's books. Everything you enter to run your shop: your business name, address, GSTIN and bank details; your items and stock; your customers' and suppliers' names, phone numbers, addresses and GSTINs; and the bills, quotations, orders, purchases, returns, payments and expenses you record. This is the purpose of the service: it is your data, held for you.
- Pictures you choose to upload. Your shop's logo, your signature, your UPI QR code and a photo of your visiting card, if you add them. They are printed on your bills or shared when you choose.
- Sign-in records. When you sign in we keep the device's type (its user agent) and IP address against that session, so signed-in devices can be seen and signed out.
- Error reports. If something goes wrong on our server, the error, the request that caused it and the technical details above may be recorded so we can fix it. They never include your password.
Your phone
The app asks for two permissions: internet access, to reach your books, and the camera, only to scan a product's barcode. Barcodes are read on your phone; no picture from the camera is saved or sent. The app keeps your sign-in token in Android's encrypted storage so you do not have to sign in every time; signing out deletes it. We do not read your contacts, location, files, microphone or anything else on your phone. Pictures are uploaded only when you pick one yourself.
What we do not do
- No advertising and no advertising identifiers.
- No analytics or tracking libraries in the app.
- No selling or renting of your data.
- The app takes no payments.
Where your data lives
Your books are stored on our server and travel between the server, the app and the website over encrypted connections (HTTPS). The server keeps a nightly backup copy for 30 days so a failure cannot lose your books.
Sharing you choose
When you share a bill, the app hands its link or PDF to the app you pick, such as WhatsApp or email. From then on it is with that app and the person you sent it to, under their terms. Bill links show only that one bill.
Who else processes it
Our hosting provider stores the server and its backups. Our error-reporting service receives the error reports described above. When BillYourShop sends you an email, such as a password reset or a sign-in code, an email delivery service passes it on. Each acts only on our instructions and may not use your data for its own purposes. We disclose data to a court or authority only when the law requires it.
Keeping and deleting
We keep your books for as long as your account exists. GST law asks businesses to keep their invoice records, so take a copy before you delete: Reports → Download everything on the website gives every record as a spreadsheet. To delete your account, see Delete your account. You can also delete individual items, parties, drafts and quotations inside the app at any time.
Children
BillYourShop is for shop owners and their staff, and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Your rights
You can see, correct and export your data in the app and on the website at any time. For a copy of everything we hold, or any question about this policy, write to us.
Changes to this policy
When this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Significant changes are announced on billyourshop.in before they take effect.
